The Square Dance Association of WI (SDAW), was founded in 1948 and reorganized as an association of areas in 1961. Clubs in each area belong their area association. Each area association sends delegates to periodic meetings of the SDAW to discuss and share information beneficial to square and round dance and associated activities in Wisconsin. All areas share in producing an annual state Square & Round Dance Convention.
The purpose of the SEA-SDAW mirrors that of the state organization:
To encourage and promote Square and Round Dancing interest, fun and fellowship.
To promote and maintain the highest Square and Round Dance standards.
To maintain a spirit of cooperation and harmony among Clubs, Dancers and Callers.
To jointly help create and encourage a greater public interest in Square and Round Dancing in the Southeast Area.
To provide a central organization which coordinates the efforts of member clubs.
